I thought the 1993 "Super Mario Bros." movie (based on the Nintendo computer and video games) was excellent. I am a big fan of the Super Mario games, and to my mind the movie struck an ideal balance between the essence of the games of the time (this was the 16-bit era of the Brothers) and the expectations of a movie-going public who were already used to blockbusters such as 1991's "Terminator 2", and who were also eagerly anticipating the first "Jurassic Park" which was due for release shortly after.
